Read more of my formal background below…..

My Background & Bio

I work as a coaching psychologist in private practice in North Kerry.

My career has transitioned through the years within the health, legal and business arena. From my early days in nursing, through to working with families within the legal processes. I have also been a business owner and Co-Founded of a Non-Profit humanitarian aid programme.  Let me take you on my career journey so far.

I have a life-long love of learning, particularly within the field of psychology.  I am honoured and grateful to have worked with people for all walks of life and positions, such as health professions and leaders within the NHS, HSE and Veterinary and Teaching Industries.

After school, I had a brief spell nursing, this gave me my first interest in psychology and I became hooked from here.

From nursing, I moved to working within family law and with families affected by the legal process. I worked for a South Coast Law firm in the UK who specialised in International Child Abduction.  It was an honour to work with some of these leaders in Family Law.  I left to continue with my psychology education in University of Southampton.

After finishing my Bachelor of Science in Psychology, I started a business and was the owner of a very special chocolate shop and café in the New Forest in the UK for several years with my husband as a family business.  During this time, not forgetting my love of psychology, I ran team building workshops making chocolates and presenting on my research into the psychology of chocolate!  Chocolate & Psychology you say………Well, you would be surprised!

After this, I returned to my home in Ireland to continue my studies and complete my Masters in Applied Psychology in UCC.

I Co-Founded a non-profit organisation 10 years ago transporting and supporting humanitarian aid      and help voluntary workers build resilience in times of great stress and challenge. I worked alongside Medicine San Frontières and the Red Cross in refugee camps. This was one of the most rewarding and challenging times of my life.  Some of my most valuable lessons came from this.

Just before Covid, I wrote and developed a Resilience program for families affected by addiction, funded by the HSE, for The Drugs Task Force, in Cork.  Weeks after we got up and running, the world shut down during Covid, but we managed to keep it going and I adapted it for online. During this time, I learned some necessary IT skills about Zoom and Teams – didn’t we all!

Before, during and after Covid I was a facilitator for Shine in Co. Kerry, working support groups for people with Schizophrenia helping them and their families to build resilience and thrive.

I am now in full time private practice for over the past 6 years here in beautiful Kerry.  I have a lovely office in the wonderful town of Listowel, where I offer my services to enable personal development to individuals, professionals and corporate.  I feel that my varied career has always stayed within the realms of having a passion for helping people to thrive. I can optimise and leverage my experience of life, family and business into my work as a coaching psychologist.

I am currently working on undertaking a PhD in area of Resilience.

My areas of research interest are within Personal Development and Wellbeing, Resilience, Emotional Intelligence and Leadership Development and Resilient Leadership.

I enjoy and welcome working on a one to one with individuals and also with teams and companies.

I am a graduate member of the Psychological Society of Ireland and British Psychological Society, and adhere to their ethical codes respectively.
